T-Mobile celebrates 1 million 5G home internet customers

Following the commercial launch of its at-home internet services in April 2021, T-Mobile is celebrating its 1-millionth home internet customer just one year later. The company’s stated goals when launching the service were to bring the fast internet speeds of its 5G mobile plans to home routers, and its been widely successful. On top of its 1 million customers, T-Mobile boasts that an additional 10 million households in the U.S. are eligible for its 5G home internet plan as well.

While the company is taking a moment to celebrate the major milestone, it recognizes that there’s still much more work to be done before all Americans are connected via 5G. T-Mobile points out that over 40 million U.S. citizens still don’t have access to high-speed home connections and a significant portion that do only have one service provider as an option. T-Mobile aims to be another choice for those feeling like they’re out of luck when it comes to home internet.

There’s more Un-carrier disruption on the way.

T-Mobile CEO Mike Sievert said that the speedy growth of the company’s Un-carrier home internet plan showcases just “how hungry” customers are for new carriers that provide alternative options from the ISPs that have dominated the industry previously. He also says that there’s “more Un-carrier disruption on the way” as the company continues its plans to shake up the home internet market.

After the year of success its seen, T-Mobile’s current goals aren’t small ones as it aims to have “7 million to 8 million fixed wireless customers by 2025.” The company has been one of the fastest-growing mobile networks over the past several years and if it’s able to hit its home internet goals, it could continue its hot streak.

T-Mobile keeps things relatively cheap with its 5G home internet plan costing just $50 per month, making it a pretty good deal when compared to other ISPs. Its marketing also claims that it can be up and running in eligible houses in just 15 minutes, making it a painless “install” that’s accessible for just about everyone.

Have one of these Samsung devices? You won’t get software updates anymore
Four galaxy z flip3 5g phones.

When you buy a phone, you expect it to work for at least a couple of years, if not longer. For many people, the time to upgrade to a new device is when it no longer receives security updates. Samsung has announced the Galaxy Z Flip 5G, Galaxy Tab S7, and Galaxy Tab S7 Plus will receive no more software updates. All three devices are now four years old, having launched in August 2020. That's about the average timespan for supporting mobile devices, but it still feels a little too short.

If you own one of these three gadgets, you might want to think about getting a newer version. While the Z Flip 5G, Tab S7, and Tab S7 Plus will all continue to work (at least for a while), they will be less secure. Software updates aren't just for improving performance and adding new features but also for patching vulnerabilities that could put your data at risk. If nothing else, make sure to use a VPN when handling any personal or banking information.

Is this our first look at Motorola’s next Moto G Stylus phone?
Someone holding the Moto G Stylus 5G 2024.

In a week already filled with leaks, another one has emerged that shows off the Moto G Stylus (2025). This is particularly noteworthy because the last G Stylus model was released only two months ago, so it's quite early in the process to already see a successor. Alas, here we are.

Compared to the Moto G Stylus (2024) and its leather back, the render of the 2025 model shows a seemingly glossy finish. The design of the phone otherwise looks mostly the same as the current generation. The render shows a dual-camera setup on the back with a flash beside it, but do note that the render isn't the best quality. You can take a look for yourself below. The stylus also looks to be a slightly different style, but given how blurry the render is, it's hard to say for sure.

T-Mobile has been hit with a $60 million fine. Here’s why

T-Mobile, the third-largest carrier in the U.S., has been hit with a $60 million fine by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S. (CFIUS). This penalty is related to its failure to follow the terms of a mitigation agreement that T-Mobile agreed to when it acquired Sprint Corp. in 2020.

According to Reuters, Deutsche Telekom, T-Mobile's parent company, failed to prevent and report unauthorized access to sensitive data following the Sprint Corp. acquisition. The unauthorized access occurred in 2020 and 2021 when "information (was) shared from a small number of law enforcement information requests."
