Borderlands 4: everything we know so far

If it weren’t for the original Borderlands, the looter-shooter genre wouldn’t exist as we know it today. This hybrid RPG/first-person shooter from Gearbox not only introduced us to the wild and wacky world of Pandora and Vault Hunters, but also to the addictive loop of grinding for endless amounts of guns. The sequel was even better, perhaps one of the best video games of all time for some, but the third was a mixed bag. It managed to keep people playing thanks to plenty of DLC and being a great cross-platform game for co-op, but we’ve all been waiting for a fresh adventure on Pandora.

Borderlands 4 would be the next logical place to go, and that’s what all the rumors and hints are suggesting. Whether the idea of reuniting with Claptrap fills you with joy or dread, here’s everything we know about Borderlands 4 so far.

Note: Before we start getting too excited to fill up our loot bags, understand that there is very little information about Borderlands 4 out there, and what is floating around may not even end up being true. We’ll make sure to be clear about what information has a source and what is our own speculation, and we will be updating every part of this article as more official information comes out over the coming months and years.

Borderlands 4 - Official Teaser Trailer

The first teaser for Borderlands 4 was the surprise announcement that kicked off Gamescom Opening Night Live 2024. In it, we see a symbol those who beat Borderlands 3 will recognize as the Firehawk emblem before the moon of Elpis appears. A mysterious rift then opens up to another unknown world where meteors start raining down. In the crater of one, a robotic hand reaches out and pulls out an iconic Psycho mask.

The only other detail we get from the official site states that Borderlands 4 will pick up directly where the last game left off, with Lilith managing to teleport Pandora’s moon somewhere else in space before it could crash into the planet. This game appears to show the aftermath of that event.

Gameplay

It should be a safe assumption to say that Borderlands 4 will just keep building on the same formula the series has used since the first game. There will certainly be new Vault Hunters with new abilities, as well as new guns, enemies, ultimates, vehicles, and more. Beyond that, it is too hard to say where the gameplay will evolve at this time.

Preorder

Once Borderlands 4 is revealed and has preorder information, we will be sure to let you know when and where to get your hands on it. For now, you can wish list it on the platform of your choice.

There have been several games based on the hit Nickelodeon show Avatar: The Last Airbender, but never one that managed to live up to the source material's legacy. After The Legend of Korra in 2014, we haven't had any new games that let us experience the world of elemental bending. That's all about to change now that Paramount Games and Saber Interactive have announced that a new Avatar AAA RPG is in the works. We've mastered all four elements to bring you as much information about this new chapter in the Avatar saga as possible.
Release date speculation
This new Avatar: The Last Airbender game is so early in development that we don't even know what its official title is yet. All we know is that the game is in its very early stages and is poised to be "the biggest video game in franchise history." If this will indeed be a AAA game, we could be waiting four or more years for this game to come to fruition. We'll keep you updated on the timeline as we get more information.

No platforms were confirmed for this new Avatar game. Saber Interactive typically releases all its games on every platform, so we would assume it will come to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series  X, PC, and perhaps even whatever the Switch 2 ends up being.

We have no footage, screenshots, or even concept art for the Avatar game. However, we do know what direction the team is going with the world and story.

Of course, GTA 6 is also the biggest name on the list of upcoming Xbox Series X games and upcoming PC games, but it isn't on our upcoming Switch games list.
