The announcement of the much-anticipated successor to the Nintendo Switch still hasn’t happened, despite fans’ best efforts to eke out even the slightest nugget of information. Now, we might have gotten our first — admittedly blurry — look at the console thanks to a quickly deleted video from peripheral manufacturer Satisfye.

The news broke on X when @1DaP_PaD1 (DP19) shared a post saying the company uploaded a trailer for a peripheral called the Zengrip 2, only to rapidly take it down once it realized its mistake. The trailer in question has been deleted, but screen captures give an idea of what Nintendo’s next console might look like. It looks shockingly similar to a normal Nintendo Switch.

Some eagle-eyed fans say they see an “extra button” on the Joy-Cons that lines up with previous leaks, but the image is so blurry that firm details are impossible to make out. With Nintendo keeping mum on any details about its upcoming console, it’s impossible to say anything definitive about the device’s appearance. Even this image is supposedly taken with a third-party accessory on it, so details are obscured.

Satisfye’s website lists the ZenGrip 2 and says to “anticipate shipping in spring 2025.” Of course, that doesn’t mean the Nintendo Switch 2 will be out by then — but we do know the console should, in theory, be announced by the end of Nintendo’s current fiscal year, which is at the end of March 2025. Nintendo has always been tight-lipped when it comes to hardware, but the excitement around the Nintendo Switch 2 is building, and fans want more details.

The big questions surrounding leaks are always about where they came from and whether they're real. The latest big leak in video games concerns the Nintendo Switch 2, and according to trusted tech experts, they're close to real.

Digital Foundry editor Richard Leadbetter stated in an article and on the brand's weekly video series Monday that based on Famiboards forums tracking every bit of possible Switch 2 information, the team can confirm that the renders and images revealed last week were accurate as of October 2023.

Nintendo Switch 2 specs and design reportedly leak thanks to prototype
An image of the Nintendo Switch - OLED Model Mario Red Edition.

A series of leaked images corroborated by Video Games Chronicle appear to have given us our first look at Nintendo's next console.

That platform, which is colloquially known as the Nintendo Switch 2, has been rumored for a long time and is going to be revealed before the end of this fiscal year. The Nintendo Switch 2 appears to be in full production now, and some images and specs of what appear to be a factory prototype of it appeared on a Chinese website, as spotted by r/gamingleaksandrumours. It features a mix of real-life photos and CAD mock-ups of the Nintendo Switch 2.

Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven puts a promising twist on turn-based RPGs
Man with long red hair putting crown on head of red haired teenage boy.

Despite the name, Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is less about romance about more about legacy. This Square Enix remake of a non-linear 1993 RPG features an Inheritance system where protagonists eventually take the skills of another, growing stronger with each generation. It takes multiple lifetimes to take down the big bad, which might play out differently depending on who inherits the throne.

While I didn't get much time to get to know the characters themselves during a 30-minute demo at PAX West, the satisfying turn-based combat and signature Glimmer mechanic signal a strong showing for turn-based RPG fans.
Watch the throne
In Romancing SaGa 2, seven heroes who saved the world were sealed away into another dimension, fated to return to save humanity again. They eventually make a return, but they are corrupted by the alternate dimension and decide to take revenge on the world that abandoned them.
